Biography

Sofia is a Master's student in Energy Resources and Petroleum Engineering at KAUST. She has held a variety of positions in the energy industry over the last six years, including field (rig-side and cartography), laboratory, and office work in the upstream sector. In recent years, she has focused on data analysis and integration, geochemistry, drilling, subsurface and structural mapping and stratigraphic correlation.

Research Interests

Since Sofia has developed a keen interest and passion for drilling, she has been able to apply her drilling skills to her research efforts, which are focused on geothermal energy, hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage (CCS). By understanding geological conditions and drilling techniques, researchers like Sofia can optimize the extraction process, improving efficiency and sustainability.
