In a recent laboratory experiment, researchers successfully fractured a large limestone rock block while monitoring the process using distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology. The DAS system captured the acoustic emissions generated during the hydraulic fracturing. Future analysis of this data aims to determine the precise source location of the fractures, offering insights into the fracture mechanics.
